Location
Amanusa is well sited for starting or ending a tour of Bali as it is only 25 minutes south of Denpasar International Airport. It is also an ideal base to explore the nearby beaches of Sanur, Legian and Kuta, which have the most established shops and restaurants on the island.
Description
Amanusa (which means "peaceful isle" and opened in 1992) enjoys a commanding position on a garden hillside in southern Bali just above the Bali Golf and Country Club. Views run from the adjacent Indian Ocean shoreline to sacred Mount Agung that dominates the far horizon on a clear day. The entrance to the lobby is a colonnaded open-air hall lined with baskets of white tuberoses. Framing the foyer is a teak sculpture illustrating scenes from the Ramayana, one of the two great epic poems of India.
Room Services
Amanusa has 35 Amanusa Resort - Room thatched-roof suites set behind foliage and mossy paras stone walls for added privacy and linked by paved walkways. All the suites have four-poster beds and round tables for private dining, a sunken indoor bath, outdoor shower, a garden courtyard and a terrace with a spacious canopied day bed. Deluxe Suites: These suites have extensive views of the golf course or the Ocean. Pool Suites: Eight suites have private swimming pools and a spacious terrace.
Hotel Services
The Terrace offers sweeping views of Bali, embracing the golf course, the Indian Ocean, Nusa Dua and the Bukit, which is Bali's southern peninsula. During the day it is open for breakfast and lunch, serving a variety of Asian and Continental dishes, while in the evenings it offers a range of Indonesian and Thai dishes. Just below, the Restaurant specialises in Mediterranean cuisine, which is served in an elegant room with high ceilings or in the outdoor courtyard surrounded by flowering frangipani trees which overlook the pool. Swimming Pool: The large 24m blue pool is bordered by a bougainvillea-covered trellis, flowering frangipani trees and a high paras-stone wall.
Other Services
Boutique and Gallery: Balinese and Indonesian craft and antiques as well as other gift items are available. Tennis: Amanusa's two, all-weather tennis courts are floodlit for evening play. Attendants are available as playing partners or ball boys. A bale is located between the courts for shady breaks of iced chrysanthemum tea and refreshments. Massage and Beauty Treatments: Amanusa's resident masseuses mix traditional Balinese massage with Swedish massage and acupressure. Massage is available in the privacy of your suite, in the specially-designated massage suite or on one of the Beach bales. Body treatments as well as facials, pedicures and manicures are also available. Amanusa's reiki master is on hand to redress any energy imbalances and a reflexologist is available once a week.
